How we turned social media into a traffic source for offline locations

Built a manageable customer acquisition system for offline locations through VK: geo-targeting, gamification and chatbots instead of content for content’s sake.

When social networks are not “content”, but sales

In most local businesses, social networks are used as a showcase: posts, promotions, a little activity - and that’s all.

At De Grasset the task was different.

It was necessary not just to “run VK,” but to turn local communities into a tool for attracting customers to the franchisee’s offline locations.

And with an important condition:

👉 advertising must be measurable
👉 model - scalable
👉 the result is reproducible

Context: small towns and limited markets

The project took place in small cities: Orsk, Rossosh, Kachkanar, Novotroitsk, Belgorod.

Format: local VK communities for each location.

The main difficulty is the limited audience. In such conditions, you cannot “fill with advertising” endlessly - you need to squeeze the maximum out of each user.

👉 the task is not just to attract, but to retain and bring to purchase

Task: build a system, not just run ads

The project faced several key tasks:

— increase coverage of local communities
— attract subscribers in specific cities
— increase engagement
— bring the audience to retail outlets
— set up payback tracking

👉 in essence - to assemble a full-fledged performance model inside social networks

Strategy: from attention to a visit to the point

Instead of classic SMM, a bunch of tools were built:

geo-target → lead magnet → chatbot → gamification → offline conversion

Each element solved its own problem in the funnel.

Geo-targeting with clear economics

Advertising was launched strictly in the cities of presence.

Main goals:

  • community subscription
  • connection to the mailing list

The trigger used was a lead magnet—a discount coupon (10–30%) with a limited validity period.

This gave several effects at once:

— measurability has appeared (it’s clear who came from the advertisement)
- can be considered payback
— users reach the point faster

👉 social networks began to provide not just traffic, but a controlled flow of clients

Gamification: Retention and Engagement

To prevent the audience from “burning out” after the first event, an activity system was introduced within the communities.

The user received points for the following actions:

  • likes
  • comments
  • reposts

Points could be exchanged for discounts through the internal “store”.

This allowed:

— increase engagement
— increase organic reach
— create repeat contacts with the brand

👉 the user remained within the ecosystem rather than “disappearing” after the first purchase

Chatbot as a pressure tool

After receiving the coupon, the user was taken into an automatic funnel.

It included:

  • warming up
  • expiration date reminders
  • additional offers
👉 this made it possible to reach a visit without increasing the advertising budget

Separately, we strengthened engagement through mechanics:

chatbot “Perfume fortune teller”

The user took a mini-test, after which he received a personal fragrance recommendation.

This solved several problems at once:

- involved in dialogue
- increased interaction time
— made the product personal

👉 perfume turned from a “product” into a “result of choice”

Content as an amplifier, not a background

Content is no longer random.

A production system was built:

  • shooting with models
  • working with photographers and videographers
  • studio rental
  • scripts and visual references
👉 content began to strengthen trust and brand positioning

Results

As a result, a working model was assembled:

— growth in local coverage (100,000+ impressions per city)
— increasing recognition in cities of presence
— a stable flow of customers to offline locations
— clear and trackable sales funnel
— a model that can be scaled to other cities

My role

In the project I was responsible for building the system:

— strategy development
— geo-target setup and control
— gamification design
— building chatbot funnels
— payback control
— production organization
— coordination of processes

In short:

👉 I turned social networks from “activity” into a channel for attracting clients

Main conclusion

Social networks begin to work as a business tool when they:

- built into the funnel
- give measurable results
- control user behavior
- lead to purchase

👉 this is no longer SMM, but a full-fledged sales system
